Nicole Kidman appears to be struggling to cope with her mother’s passing, despite her continued success.
Last month, the Oscar-winning actress received the Best Actress award at the Venice Film Festival for her acclaimed performance in Halina Reijn’s Babygirl. Just days later, her new Netflix series, The Perfect Couple, soared to the top of the streaming charts.
Her success continues as she prepares for her return in season two of Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness on Paramount+ this Sunday, and she is also set to begin filming Amazon Studios’ Scarpetta.
However, despite these accomplishments, Kidman shared her sadness over her mother’s absence during these milestone moments. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the red carpet event at Hollywood’s Linwood Dunn Theatre, she said, “I wish my mama was here. That’s the one thing I’d say. Everything is great with work, but I wish my mama was here.”
Kidman had announced her mother’s passing through Reijn a month earlier, writing, “I’m in shock, and I need to be with my family, but this award is for her. I’m incredibly grateful to be able to say her name to all of you. The collision of life and art is devastating, and my heart is broken.”
Reflecting on her grief, she added, “It’s been hard. It’s a difficult road, but I’m hanging in there.”
