US Election: 7 Days Remaining – Poll Insights, Harris and Trump’s Latest Moves

With just seven days remaining before the election, former President Donald Trump held a major rally at Madison Square Garden in his hometown of New York City, while Vice President Kamala Harris campaigned in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania.

At Sunday’s Madison Square Garden rally, Trump focused on his promise to halt undocumented immigration, vowing to deport those he called “vicious and bloodthirsty criminals.”

In Philadelphia, Harris urged people not to stay on the sidelines, emphasizing, “We are focused on the future and the needs of the American people.”

By midday Sunday (16:00 GMT), over 41 million Americans had cast their votes through early voting or mail-in ballots, according to the University of Florida’s Election Lab. In the 2020 election, over 100 million voters cast ballots before Election Day due to COVID-19.

What Are the Latest Poll Updates?

Polls show a tight race, with Harris and Trump nearly even.

A CBS News/YouGov poll on Sunday indicated Harris has a narrow lead nationally at 50%, with Trump at 49%, a margin that falls within the survey’s margin of error. A distinct gender divide shows more men favoring Trump, while more women support Harris.

FiveThirtyEight’s poll tracker also shows Harris slightly leading Trump nationally, by 1.4 points. The gap, however, has narrowed from 1.7 points last week, signaling a closer contest.

Swing State Battles

Seven pivotal states are likely to decide the outcome. Harris maintains a slim lead in Michigan and Wisconsin, while Trump has a slight advantage in Pennsylvania and Nevada and a stronger lead in North Carolina, Arizona, and Georgia. In each of these states, however, the candidates are within two points, leaving outcomes uncertain.

Harris on the Campaign Trail

On Sunday, Harris spoke at Philadelphia’s Church of Christian Compassion, stressing the importance of the upcoming election, calling it the “most consequential election of our lifetime.”

Addressing young voters, she acknowledged their impatience for change, urging everyone to take action beyond words.

When questioned by reporters about Trump’s recent talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, she downplayed concerns, stating the U.S. remains committed to ending the conflict and pursuing a two-state solution.

An Arab News/YouGov poll found that Arab American support for Trump (45%) slightly outpaces support for Harris (43%), with many respondents perceiving Trump as more likely to address the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Trump’s Campaign Rally

Trump, speaking to his supporters in New York, vowed to “make America powerful again,” attacking Harris as “unfit” for leadership.

Separately, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe sparked backlash with a controversial joke, likening Puerto Rico to a “floating island of garbage.” Harris’s campaign, aiming to win Puerto Rican votes in swing states, condemned the remark. Trump’s campaign quickly distanced itself from the comedian’s statements, emphasizing that his views do not represent those of Trump or his team.

Upcoming Campaign Events

Harris and running mate Tim Walz are scheduled to host a rally and concert in Michigan. Meanwhile, Trump will travel to Georgia, where he’ll address faith leaders before hosting a campaign rally at Georgia Tech.
