Coke Studio’s ‘Piya Piya Calling’ earns Norwegian nomination, ignites global excitement

Coke Studio’s fan-favorite track, “Piya Piya Calling,” has received a nomination for Song of the Year at Norway’s esteemed P3 Gold Awards, marking a significant milestone for Pakistani music on the international stage.

The vibrant song, produced by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan (Xulfi), the curator of Coke Studio’s Season 15, has garnered global attention due to its rich cultural fusion, infectious rhythms, and memorable collaboration with Quick Style—a well-known dance group created by Norwegian-Pakistani twins and their Norwegian-Thai friend.

In an Instagram post, Xulfi expressed his astonishment at the song’s success, stating, “We didn’t know this timeline could exist in our lives.” He highlighted P3 as Norway’s leading radio station and thanked fans for their enthusiastic support of the track.

The production of “Piya Piya Calling” featured the Norwegian duo Karpe, singer Delara, and Pakistani artist Kaifi Khalil, merging languages, rhythms, and creative influences that made it a hit in both Pakistan and Norway, amassing over 14 million views on YouTube.

The song’s international influence continues, as it is also one of three Coke Studio tracks submitted for consideration in the Best Global Music Performance category at the Grammy Awards.

Xulfi urged fans to vote for the song, emphasizing that this collaboration showcases the ability of art to transcend borders and unite people through a shared passion for music.
