President Asif Ali Zardari sustains leg fracture at Dubai airport

DUBAI: President Asif Ali Zardari sustained a leg fracture while disembarking from a plane at Dubai airport last night, according to a statement from the President’s House on Thursday.

The spokesperson reported that Zardari was promptly taken to a hospital for initial treatment, where doctors plastered his leg after an examination.

He has since been returned home, with medical advice to rest for four weeks due to his injury.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed his prayers for Zardari’s quick recovery following the injury. In a post on X, he said, “During this time, may he find strength and resilience. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, and we look forward to his swift return to serve our nation.”

PPP leader Sehar Kamran also responded to Zardari’s injury, wishing him a speedy recovery and full healing. She remarked, “He is an icon of strength and courage for all of us; his resilience and determination inspire us all. May Allah Almighty bless him with good health and a long life, Aameen.”

In September 2022, Zardari, who is also the co-chairman of the PPP, was hospitalized in Karachi’s Clifton area due to a lung infection. He was discharged in October and moved to Bilawal House in the city. At that time, concerns about his health arose, but his personal physician, Dr. Asim Hussain, denied the circulating rumors on social media.

Zardari also experienced mild COVID-19 symptoms in July 2022, which his son, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, confirmed on X, noting that Zardari had been fully vaccinated and received booster shots.
