The alleged torture of actress Nargis has escalated, with medical reports confirming multiple injuries she sustained.
The report indicates that Nargis suffered severe injuries to her face, forehead, head, and arms, along with a damaged nasal bone. It also noted injuries around her right eye, suggesting that she was assaulted with a blunt object.
A violence case was filed at the Defense C police station on Friday. Meanwhile, her son has reportedly reached out to the Canadian Embassy for intervention and assistance on behalf of his mother.
The case was registered following a complaint from actress Ghazala, known as Nargis, who accused her husband, Inspector Majid Bashir, of violence related to a financial dispute.
The police have filed charges against Bashir for torture, attempted robbery, and threats to kill her at gunpoint. The first information report (FIR) alleges that Bashir tried to forcibly take cash and jewelry from Nargis at gunpoint and sought to transfer ownership of a farmhouse to his name.
The incident is said to have occurred at the couple’s residence in Defense, Lahore, where Nargis claimed that her husband struck her repeatedly with his official pistol, dragged her by the hair, and threatened her life.
In the FIR, Nargis stated that Majid Bashir aims to forcibly transfer property into his name, which leads him to commit acts of violence against her. The police have confirmed that legal action is underway against Bashir.
On Friday, Hina Pervaiz Butt, Chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA), pledged to deliver justice for the actress.
According to reports, Butt met with Nargis, stating, “Nargis has been provided security. Subjecting women to torture is a heinous crime, and the perpetrator will face justice.”
She emphasized, “Ensuring the protection and justice for every woman is our highest priority.” Butt added that “torturing and harming women is a red line for the Punjab government, as instructed by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.”
