Pamela Anderson opens up about leaving Hollywood and moving to Canada

Pamela Anderson recently opened up about her move from Hollywood to Canada, a choice that has helped her rediscover her true self away from the pressures of fame. In 2020, the 57-year-old former Playboy model relocated to Vancouver Island, British Columbia, reconnecting with her authentic identity and leaving behind Hollywood’s intense spotlight.

In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Anderson described her return to Canada as a “homecoming” and an opportunity for self-reflection, allowing her to see herself beyond the roles and labels others had placed on her. “I didn’t want my past experiences to define me. I wanted my actions to define me,” she shared with the publication.

This isn’t the first time the Baywatch star has spoken about her choice to return to her roots. In a Better Homes & Gardens interview for its September cover story, Anderson admitted she wasn’t in a positive place when she first returned to Canada. She reflected on feeling “far removed” from her former public image, explaining that she had felt trapped in a cycle of sadness and loneliness before her move.

Anderson also revealed feeling misunderstood and like a failure, believing that her life’s journey had been filled with mistakes. “I was hard on myself and felt I’d put my family, especially my kids, through so much,” she admitted. Anderson shares two sons, Brandon, 28, and Dylan, 26, with ex-husband Tommy Lee.

Since moving, Anderson has spent time renovating a property for her parents, writing, and learning to bake. Her self-reflection inspired her memoir, Love, Pamela, released in 2023, and her cookbook I Love You, published in October 2024.

Anderson remains active in the entertainment industry, recently starring in The Last Showgirl, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and will hit theaters on January 10. She’s also set to appear alongside Liam Neeson in a new Naked Gun film.
