RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces killed five militants in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in South Waziristan District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while four army personnel were martyred, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.
The military’s media wing reported that on November 6, 2024, an exchange of fire occurred between security forces and militants in the Karama area of South Waziristan, resulting in the death of five militants due to effective engagement by the forces.
However, during the intense firefight, four brave soldiers laid down their lives. The martyred soldiers were Naib Subedar Taib Shah (38 years, District Tank), Lance Naik Gulab Zaman (30 years, District Karak), Lance Naik Muzammil Mehmood (30 years, District Karak), and Lance Naik Habibullah (28 years, District Orakzai).
The ISPR stated that a sanitization operation is ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining militants. It emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces are committed to eradicating terrorism and that such sacrifices only strengthen their resolve.
In a previous operation on October 30, 2024, security forces killed eight militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu District while three army personnel, including a major, embraced martyrdom. The operation took place in the Bakka Khel area of Bannu District after reports of militant activity.
During that exchange of fire, Major Atif Khalil (31 years, District Sudhanuti, AJ&K) and his two soldiers, Naik Azad Ullah (36 years, District Karak) and Lance Naik Ghazanfar Abbas (35 years, District Layyah), bravely fought alongside their troops and were martyred.
