Adelaide, 8 November 2024: Pakistan clinched a nine-wicket victory over Australia in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval, thanks to Haris Rauf’s impressive five-wicket haul and half-centuries from Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique. This win leveled the three-match series at 1-1, setting up a decider in Perth on 10 November.
Chasing a target of 164, Pakistan’s opening duo of Abdullah and Saim made a strong start, building a 137-run partnership. Saim, in just his second ODI, scored his maiden half-century with a brisk 82 off 71 balls, featuring five fours and six sixes.
After Saim’s dismissal in the 21st over, Babar Azam joined Abdullah, adding an unbeaten 32 runs to secure the win. Abdullah finished on 64 not out from 69 balls, with four fours and three sixes, marking his fifth half-century in the format.
Earlier, Pakistan’s fast bowlers restricted Australia effectively, taking regular wickets. Haris led the bowling attack with 5-29 from eight overs, while Shaheen Shah Afridi supported with 3-26 in his eight overs.
