Taylor Swift stole the spotlight at the MTV European Music Awards on Monday, November 11, claiming four awards, outshining some of the biggest names in the music industry.
The “Cruel Summer” singer, who was nominated in seven categories, took home trophies for Best Artist, Best Live Act, Best US Act, and Best Video for her collaboration with Post Malone on “Fortnight.”
Although Swift did not attend the ceremony in Manchester, she sent a video message expressing her gratitude.
“Thank you so much for these amazing awards. The fact that you’ve honored the tour, everything that’s happened with the album this year, the video—it’s just unbelievable,” Swift said in her acceptance speech. She also thanked Post Malone, calling him “the most amazing co-star possible” in the music video.
Swift skipped the event to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, at his Kansas City game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
The MTV European Music Awards returned this year after being canceled last year due to the pandemic.
In addition to Swift, her friend Sabrina Carpenter won her first EMA for Best Song with “Espresso,” beating out the likes of Billie Eilish, Beyoncé, Benson Boone, Chappell Roan, and Ariana Grande.
Other winners included BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Ariana Grande, Eminem, Liam Gallagher, and South African singer Tyla, who won her first three MTV EMAs.
