Rawalpindi police released several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders on Tuesday after a brief detention, according to ARY News.
The PTI leaders were taken into custody outside Adiala Jail, where they had gathered to meet party founder Imran Khan. Among those detained were Omar Ayub, Shahzad Waseem, Malik Ahmed Bhachar, Asad Qaiser, Shibli Faraz, Sahibzada Hamid Raza from the Sunni Ittehad Council, and others.
The leaders were initially taken to Adiala Police Station.
In a statement on X, PTI condemned the arrests, calling it “absolutely shameful.” They stated that the leaders had been detained for simply exercising their legal right to meet Imran Khan, warning that this action undermines basic freedoms and the rule of law.
The police later confirmed that all detained PTI leaders had been released.
