Former India all-rounder Sanjay Bangar served as the Indian cricket team’s batting coach from 2014 until the end of the 2019 ODI World Cup, working effectively alongside Team Director and later head coach Ravi Shastri, as well as bowling coach Bharat Arun.
Bangar has recently been in the spotlight as his 23-year-old child, Aryan, now Anaya, has completed a gender transition through Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to become a transwoman. Currently based in Manchester, Anaya shared her 10-month journey and progress on social media, posting photos with former India captain MS Dhoni and star batsman Virat Kohli.
Reflecting on her journey, Anaya expressed, “Beyond the game, I faced a path of self-discovery filled with challenges. Embracing my true self required making difficult choices, stepping away from comfort, and standing up for who I am, even when it was tough. Today, I’m proud to be part of the sport I love, not only as an athlete but as my authentic self. Though the road has been hard, finding my true self has been my greatest victory.”
