In a recent interview, beloved comedian Naseem Vicky reflected on his experiences working in Bollywood and his interactions with Indian actors and comedians.
He recalled a memorable incident when he forgot his lines while performing on Comedy Nights Bachao, where actor Salman Khan was in the audience. When asked if he had ever experienced such a moment, Naseem shared that it happened during his performance in India.
He explained, “It happened once when I performed on Comedy Nights Bachao. Celebrities like Mika and Salman Khan were sitting right in front of me. My joke was that I was going to roast them. I had planned to tell Salman Khan, ‘Make me your son,’ and he would reply, ‘How can I have such an old son?’ I had this punchline ready. But, at that time, I had just lost my mother, and I was grieving. That was the first time in my life that I went on stage and couldn’t remember my script. I was blank and kept trying to recall it, but I just couldn’t.”
Naseem Vicky was spared from the awkward situation when, as fate would have it, there was a sudden blast on set, and the transformer blew up. “Allah helped me, and after a brief moment, I regained my composure. It was a very tough episode because my mind was still on my mother,” he recalled.
When asked about the opportunities available to Indian and Pakistani comedians, Naseem noted that comedians in India are provided with written scripts and material before their performances. “Our comedians work incredibly hard. We don’t receive written material or prepared content. In India, they perform with the material given to them. Here, we focus only on punchlines. If we were provided with proper comedic situations, we would be able to create amazing work,” he concluded.
