Seven police officers abducted from a checkpoint in Bannu

BANNU: Armed men stormed a police checkpoint in Bannu, kidnapping seven police officers, as reported by ARY News citing local police.

According to reports, 30 to 40 armed assailants attacked the checkpost in the Atmanzai area of Bannu and abducted seven officers on duty. The attackers also seized weapons and other police equipment.

Four police officers managed to escape the abduction as they were not present at the time of the attack.

In recent months, there has been a notable rise in terrorist-related incidents in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

On November 9, a suicide bombing at Quetta railway station killed 26 people and wounded 62 others, according to hospital and municipal officials.

Earlier, on September 26, a bomb attack in Quetta targeted a police vehicle, injuring at least two officers and a dozen others.

To ensure public safety, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority announced on November 11 that mobile internet services would be suspended in certain areas of Balochistan.
