Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Raoof Hassan has emphasized the importance of initiating dialogue between PTI and the establishment, asserting that discussions should have started on Tuesday.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan has called on his supporters to march towards Islamabad on November 24, advocating for the “restoration” of democracy and the judiciary. Meanwhile, leaders of the ruling coalition have criticized PTI, accusing the party of causing unrest with such protests.
In response, Khan has set forth four demands to end the demonstrations, primarily addressing recent government actions, including the 26th Constitutional Amendment. Former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry defended these demands, describing them as “reasonable.”
During an appearance on Aaj News’ News Insight with Amir Zia, Hassan reiterated that while the incarcerated former prime minister, Imran Khan, is open to dialogue with the establishment, it must be under “three specific conditions.”
Hassan highlighted the nationwide impact of PTI’s protests, which often bring the country to a “standstill,” causing roadblocks and mass arrests. He questioned the government’s motives, pointing to the deployment of shipping containers in Islamabad to block roads. Criticizing recent constitutional amendments, Hassan labeled them as a “permanent stain” on the government’s reputation.
Regarding the party’s upcoming protest strategy, Hassan revealed that it would be “significantly different” from previous demonstrations. He also criticized the ruling coalition, accusing its leaders of competing for power with a “fake mandate” rather than presenting a unified front.
