FM Dar: Allegations against Saudi Arabia reflect a desperate mindset

Responding to remarks made by the spouse of PTI founder Imran Khan regarding Saudi Arabia, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized the strong ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. “Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a close friendship and brotherhood built on mutual respect,” he stated.

Dar highlighted the deep admiration Pakistan holds for Saudi Arabia’s progress and prosperity, adding, “The Pakistani nation takes pride in its close relationship with Saudi Arabia, a country that has consistently supported Pakistan through challenging times.”

He criticized attempts to implicate Saudi Arabia for political gains, calling it “regrettable and indicative of a desperate mindset.” Dar urged all political factions to refrain from jeopardizing Pakistan’s foreign policy for domestic political objectives.

The statement came after Bushra Bibi, wife of Imran Khan, released a video message urging PTI supporters to participate in the Nov 24 protest, labeled as a “final or do-or-die” showdown against the government.

In her message, Bushra Bibi alleged that a smear campaign against her and Khan began following their visit to Madinah, claiming that former Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa received calls stating Khan was “unacceptable.” She further accused detractors of character assassination and labeling Khan as a “Jewish agent.”

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that no protests would be permitted in Islamabad due to the scheduled state visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and his 65-member delegation on Nov 24-25.

Speaking to the media after appearing before the Islamabad High Court, Naqvi dismissed reports of ongoing talks between the government and Imran Khan, asserting that while he supports dialogue, “negotiations and threats cannot go hand in hand.”
