BRUSSELS – EU antitrust regulators have closed a four-year investigation into Apple’s rules for competing e-book and audiobook app developers after the complainant withdrew their case against the tech giant.
The European Commission, responsible for enforcing EU competition law, clarified that closing the investigation does not imply that Apple’s conduct complies with EU competition rules. The identity of the complainant was not disclosed.
The Commission further stated it would continue to monitor business practices within the European tech industry, including those of Apple, under both the Digital Markets Act and EU competition regulations.
