ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad on Friday, just days before the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in the capital.
The court issued the order after hearing a case related to vandalism and violation of Section 144 in Islamabad. ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra initiated the process to declare Gandapur a proclaimed offender due to his repeated absence from court despite multiple summons.
The court separated Gandapur’s case from those of other suspects after declaring him a PO. Non-bailable arrest warrants were also issued for suspects Raja Rashid, Wasiq Qayyum, Faisal Javed, and Umer Tanveer.
Lawyers representing the absent suspects sought exemption from appearance, but the court rejected the request and canceled their bail bonds.
The ATC adjourned the case until November 28.
A terrorism-related case was filed against PTI leaders Gandapur, Faisal, Khurram, and Waqas at the I-9 police station in Islamabad.
This order comes just ahead of PTI’s planned rally on November 24, despite government restrictions. Gandapur is expected to lead the PTI supporters in the protest.
