DNA tests will be conducted to determine the final death toll. Additionally, 63 people were injured, and rescue teams continue to search through the rubble.
According to Lebanese state media, five Israeli missiles hit a residential building in central Beirut on Saturday. The National News Agency described the attack as a “horrific massacre,” with the Israeli air force destroying an eight-story building on Al-Mamoun Street in the Basta area.
AFP journalists in Beirut reported hearing at least three large explosions. This airstrike follows a series of bombardments in the southern suburbs of Beirut as Israel continues its operations against Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group.
On Friday, Israeli airstrikes leveled an 11-story building in southern Beirut, targeting what are believed to be Hezbollah strongholds. The Lebanese Health Ministry also reported that five paramedics were killed in Israeli attacks on the country’s southern region.
