Hamid Raza denies involvement in decision to move to D-Chowk

Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza clarified his position on the Islamabad protests, stating, “I was not involved in the decision to proceed to D-Chowk.”

During an appearance on Samaa TV’s Nadeem Malik Live, Raza explained his reasons for stepping down, saying, “It was claimed that Punjab’s participation was lacking, which led to my resignation.”

Raza acknowledged having reservations, noting that differences in strategy are natural. He reiterated his support for PTI, emphasizing, “I have been an ally of PTI in the past and will continue to stand with the party. However, I had no role in the D-Chowk decision.”

Commenting on Salman Akram Raja’s resignation, Raza said, “He stepped down due to criticism, but I believe he should not have resigned.”

Regarding the ongoing PTI political committee meeting, Raza confirmed, “Bushra Bibi is not attending the meeting.”

He also dismissed speculation about new appointments within PTI, stating, “The proposal to appoint Asad Qaiser as chairman and Ali Muhammad Khan as secretary general is not being considered. We spoke with Ali Zafar, and he denied these claims. Additionally, no one has met the PTI founder today.”
