ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) increased its representation in the National Assembly on Saturday after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) officially notified Samina Khalid Ghurki as an MNA on a reserved seat.
According to the ECP notification, Ghurki was appointed to a reserved seat for women from Punjab.
The PPP’s tally of reserved seats, which are allocated based on a party’s share of general seats, grew by one following Makhdoom Tahir Rasheedud Din’s victory in the NA-171 (Rahim Yar Khan) by-election last week.
Samina Ghurki, who serves as the president of PPP’s Punjab women’s wing, comes from a prominent political family in Lahore and has previously held the position of federal minister.
