CCTV footage reveals 45-second robbery in Karachi

Reports reveal that a viral incident took place in an alley behind a residence in District Malir, Karachi. CCTV footage shows a young man holding his mobile phone when two suspects on a motorcycle approached him and accelerated toward him upon spotting him.

One of the suspects grabbed the young man by the neck, causing him to panic and attempt to escape. Meanwhile, the second suspect, dressed in shalwar kameez, drew a gun and pursued the victim.

Despite trying to protect his phone, the young man ultimately handed it over. The footage also shows the motorcycle-riding robber slapping the victim and searching him for additional valuables before both suspects fled the scene.

The incident has sparked concerns about the rising crime rate in the area, particularly due to the boldness of the attack, which occurred in broad daylight. Police are investigating the case, but the suspects remain at large.

In another robbery on November 28 in Quaidabad, a man was robbed of Rs5.5 million. CCTV footage, lasting only nine seconds, captures two armed suspects on a motorcycle swiftly snatching the victim’s cash-filled bag.

The video shows the suspects approaching Rashid, the victim, as he exited his car. One of them brandished a weapon while the other grabbed the bag containing the money. The incident unfolded as Rashid was heading to the bank to deposit the cash.

Despite the rapid sequence of events, which lasted just nine seconds, the robbers managed to escape without resistance. Police are continuing their investigation into the crime.

These incidents highlight a troubling surge in street crimes across Karachi, leaving citizens frustrated and questioning the government’s ability to ensure their safety.
