Hezbollah claims responsibility for rocket attack on Israeli base near Haifa

Hezbollah claims responsibility for a rocket attack on Israel’s Ramat David Airbase, located east of Haifa, in retaliation for a series of Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon. The attack, which occurred early Sunday, triggered sirens across northern Israel, forcing hundreds of thousands to take cover and leading to school closures.

The Israeli military confirmed over 100 projectiles were launched from Lebanon, and in response, it conducted hundreds of air raids on Hezbollah positions. The clashes mark one of Hezbollah’s longest-reaching attacks into Israel since cross-border hostilities reignited in October of last year.

No significant casualties or damage from the rockets have been reported in Israel, though large gatherings and educational activities have been restricted in the northern region, including in Haifa.
