Two security personnel, including an officer, laid down their lives while combating terrorists in separate operations across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) over the past 48 hours. The military confirmed that eight terrorists were killed during these operations, which targeted key districts.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were carried out in Bannu and Khyber districts between November 29 and December 1, 2024. The neutralized terrorists were reportedly involved in multiple attacks on security forces and civilians.

In Bannu’s Baka Khel area, an intelligence-based operation led to the killing of five terrorists and injuring nine others. During the operation, Sepoy Iftikhar Hussain, 29, fought valiantly and embraced martyrdom. He hailed from Jhang district in Punjab.

In a separate operation in Shagai, Khyber district, security forces killed three terrorists and captured two. During the exchange of heavy fire, Captain Muhammad Zohaib Ud Din, 25, was martyred. He led his troops courageously and hailed from Lahore.

The martyred heroes were laid to rest with full military honors in their ancestral towns following funeral prayers attended by senior military officials, including Lt. Gen. Omar Ahmed Bukhari, Corps Commander Peshawar. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari lauded their sacrifices and praised the security forces for their bravery and success.

PM Shehbaz attended Captain Zohaibuddin’s funeral and expressed heartfelt condolences to his family, saluting his valor. Both the president and the prime minister vowed to continue operations until terrorism is eradicated, emphasizing the nation’s unwavering pride in its armed forces and martyrs.

“The sacrifices of our soldiers strengthen our resolve to eliminate terrorism,” the ISPR stated, adding that sanitization operations are ongoing to secure the areas. The nation stands united against the menace of terrorism, committed to ensuring peace and security.
