Head of Assassin’s Creed reveals unexpected details about the development team.

In a recent interview, Cote shared insights into the development strategy for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed title, Assassin’s Creed Shadow. He revealed that a significant portion of the team, “probably half,” consists of developers who are working on a game for the first time.

Cote explained that the pandemic has led to a rise in junior team members, with seniority levels dropping globally. He noted, “Many of the developers are new to the process, and while they may feel the game isn’t looking great yet, it’s important to reassure them that it’s going to improve, drawing on your experience as a leader.”

Ubisoft had previously announced a delay in the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, shifting the launch from November 15 to February 2025. The delay was partly due to the underperformance of Star Wars Outlaws and lower-than-expected profits in the recent quarter.

While Assassin’s Creed Shadows was described as “feature complete,” Ubisoft opted to delay the release to polish the game further, ensuring it meets the franchise’s ambitious goals. The company emphasized the promise of a dual-protagonist adventure, with Naoe and Yasuke offering distinct gameplay experiences.
