Two suspects, reportedly friends, were detained for making a hoax bomb threat on a flight traveling from Islamabad to Karachi, causing panic among passengers with their false claim, according to ASF officials.
Security personnel, including a bomb disposal squad, conducted a thorough search of the plane and its luggage area, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), but found no suspicious items.
The flight was cleared for departure once the bomb threat was confirmed to be a hoax. Airport officials later confirmed that the plane would depart for its destination shortly.
The ASF took both suspects into custody, and preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects claimed to have received a call from a friend warning them of a bomb threat on the flight.
Further investigation is ongoing by security forces to uncover the details of the hoax.
In related news, reports surfaced last week about international passengers being delayed for up to 72 hours at Islamabad International Airport (IIA). In response, a Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) spokesperson assured that airport operations across the country were proceeding smoothly, denying any disruption. “All airport operations, including those at Islamabad, are continuing as usual,” the spokesperson confirmed.
