ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has urged Pakistani citizens in Syria to remain vigilant amidst the evolving regional situation, ARY News reported.

In an official statement, Baloch assured that Pakistan is closely monitoring developments in Syria and reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. She emphasized that this principled stance remains unchanged.

She confirmed the safety of Pakistani citizens currently in Syria and highlighted that Pakistan’s embassy in Damascus is fully operational, ready to assist and guide citizens as required.

The spokesperson noted that Damascus International Airport remains closed and added that the embassy is in contact with Pakistani nationals, including pilgrims stranded in Syria. Plans are in place to facilitate their safe return once the airport reopens.

Crisis Management Unit Activated
On December 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs activated its Crisis Management Unit (CMU) to support Pakistanis affected by the ongoing conflict between Syrian government forces and rebels.

The Pakistan Embassy in Damascus remains actively engaged in providing facilitation.

Earlier, the Foreign Office advised citizens against unnecessary travel to Syria due to the volatile security situation.
