Actor Salman Khan has demanded an apology from news agency ANI and the lawyers representing the two men accused of firing outside his residence, for allegedly linking him to underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s group, D-Company, according to a report by Livelaw. ANI published a report claiming Khan has “known relations” with the notorious group involved in terror and extortion.
Khan has sent a legal notice to ANI over the report, which was published on September 4 and circulated to other news portals and channels. The report included an interview with Amit Mishra, the lawyer representing Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, who are accused in the case related to the firing outside Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, Mumbai. Mishra alleged that Gupta and Pal were threatened by D-Company members and claimed that Khan has “known links” with a gangster and “perhaps” wants to have his clients killed.
Khan has demanded an “unconditional apology” from both ANI and Mishra, to be prominently published in major newspapers within 48 hours. He has also asked for the report to be removed from ANI’s website.
In the legal notice, Khan firmly denied the allegations made by Mishra, calling them “false, baseless, malicious, grossly defamatory, misleading, and damaging.” He accused both Mishra and ANI of attempting to create controversy and gain public attention at the expense of his reputation, stating that the allegations amount to defamation.
