The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of Aaqib Javed as the national team’s interim red-ball coach.
This decision follows Jason Gillespie’s resignation as Pakistan’s red-ball coach, which the PCB confirmed earlier. Javed, currently serving as the interim white-ball coach, will now oversee the team during the upcoming Test series against South Africa.
Reports suggest that Gillespie resigned due to personal reasons, citing his unwillingness to travel to South Africa. He was also reportedly dissatisfied with the dismissal of assistant coach Tim Nelson.
The Test series between Pakistan and South Africa is set to begin on December 26, with Shan Masood leading the Green Shirts. Meanwhile, Pakistan aims to bounce back in the second T20I on Friday after suffering a heavy defeat in the first match against the Proteas.
