Court Dismisses PTI Leaders’ Pleas in GHQ Attack Case

Earlier today, an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi rejected pleas by PTI founder Imran Khan and 10 other party leaders, including Ali Amin Gandapur, against their indictment in the GHQ attack case.

The court ruled that the prosecution’s evidence was sufficient to proceed with the trial and affirmed that the indictment had already been made. It further clarified that post-indictment requests under Section 265-D were no longer valid.

Other PTI leaders whose pleas were dismissed include Kunwal Shauzab, Fawad Chaudhry, and Shibli Faraz. The prosecution was represented by Rana Rafaqat Zahoor Shah, while Imran Khan’s legal defense included Muhammad Faisal Malik and Faisal Farid Chaudhry.

Protests Spark Surge in Cases

The rise in cases against Gandapur followed a call for protest in Islamabad by incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan on November 24, 2024. During the rally, led by Gandapur and Bushra Bibi from Peshawar to Islamabad, incidents resulted in additional charges against Gandapur, further inflating the number of legal cases.
