PTI agrees to NA Speaker’s invitation for talks with government committee

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram confirmed that PTI has accepted Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s invitation to meet with the government’s nine-member negotiating committee on Monday.

“Tomorrow, our negotiation committee will attend the meeting,” Akram told reporters in Peshawar.

He further explained that PTI’s founder would be briefed on the meeting’s progress, and based on the developments, a decision would be made on whether to proceed with or cancel the civil disobedience movement.

“We hope the government committee will demonstrate seriousness in the talks,” Akram added.

“The PTI founder will decide the next steps,” he concluded.

Recent Developments in Pakistan’s Political Landscape

Following PTI’s announcement of a negotiation committee, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formed a nine-member committee to engage in talks with the opposition.

In response, Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, invited both committees to meet on Monday at 11 am.

Both the ruling party and the opposition have welcomed the formation of the committee, hoping it will help resolve the political deadlock in Pakistan.

The first round of talks on Monday is expected to be closely watched, especially after previous political tensions where both sides had resisted engaging in dialogue.
