Pakistan’s top film star Mehwish Hayat has shared her ambitions for the future, revealing that politics could be her next career move.
In a recent interview with a private news channel, Hayat, one of Pakistan’s leading actresses, discussed her growing interest in politics and mentioned that she has been studying the subject for some time.
Having started her career as a child actor, Hayat emphasized the importance of education and revealed that she completed a degree in arts before fully pursuing acting. She has now turned her focus to studying politics.
When asked about the possibility of a second career in politics, Hayat expressed openness, saying, “The goal is to contribute to positive change in the country. Whether that happens through entering parliament or starting my own political party, only time will tell.” She added, “If a cricketer can become prime minister, then surely an actress can too.”
In her acting career, Hayat made a TV return earlier this year, starring in ARY Digital’s telefilm Ijazat alongside her close friend, renowned Pakistani couturier HSY (Hassan Sheheryar Yasin). She also appeared in a music video for Indian rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh’s Jatt Mehkma.
Additionally, she hinted at a possible appearance in season 5 of the popular Netflix series Emily in Paris.
