ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is all set to resume direct flights to Paris on Friday, following a suspension of over four years.
This milestone marks a significant move towards boosting business, tourism, and interpersonal connections.
According to a PIA spokesperson, twice-weekly direct flights between Islamabad and Paris will begin on January 10, 2025. The inaugural flight, PK749, is scheduled to depart from Islamabad airport at 12:00 PM with over 300 passengers onboard.
Minister for Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif, PIA’s acting CEO Khurram Mushtaq, and Secretary Aviation will attend a simple ceremony at the Islamabad airport to see off the passengers.
The PIA spokesperson further stated, “The Boeing 777 will depart for Paris fully booked, reflecting the warm reception of this service by passengers. The next four Paris flights are also fully booked in advance.” The passengers of the inaugural flight will also receive a warm welcome at Paris airport.
Meanwhile, PIA has announced plans to expand its domestic and international operations with new routes beginning in January.
Starting January 20, PIA will operate two weekly flights between Sialkot and Bahrain. A weekly flight from Lahore to Kuwait will commence on January 25, and two weekly flights between Lahore and Dammam will start on January 22.
Additionally, a weekly flight between Faisalabad and Jeddah will begin on January 20, followed by weekly flights between Sialkot and Doha from January 21, and Peshawar to Karachi from January 25. These flights will utilize Boeing 777 and Airbus 320 aircraft.
