Indian Army Chief accuses Pakistan of contributing to setbacks in Kashmir.

In a bid to deflect attention from India’s military setbacks, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has blamed Pakistan, making unfounded claims that it is supporting Kashmiri resistance fighters.

During a press conference in New Delhi, Dwivedi stated that the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir was “completely under control,” while also justifying India’s substantial military presence in the region.

However, his statements are at odds with the reality on the ground. If the region is truly under control, why are 1 million Indian troops and paramilitary forces stationed there? Why are daily search operations and extrajudicial killings of Kashmiri youth continuing? And if the Indian army is well-prepared along the Line of Control (LoC), why does India persist with claims of “cross-border infiltration”?

Additionally, General Dwivedi acknowledged that the standoff with China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) remains unresolved, citing a lack of trust between the two countries’ militaries. This admission highlights India’s struggle to manage its border disputes despite its aggressive stance.

Dwivedi’s accusations against Pakistan and Kashmiri freedom fighters reflect India’s increasing frustration in its failure to suppress the Kashmiri resistance. Meanwhile, the global community continues to observe India’s human rights violations in the region.
