Shan aims for a clean sweep in West Indies Tests

Pakistan’s Test captain Shan Masood has set his sights on securing a clean sweep in the upcoming two-match ICC World Test Championship (WTC) series against the West Indies.

Speaking on Geo News’ program “Score,” Shan, who has led Pakistan in 10 Test matches, shared his ambitions and reflected on past challenges.

The left-handed batter expressed regret over narrowly losing the first Test in Centurion against South Africa, despite being in a strong position. “This isn’t the first time it has happened. We’ve lost matches from advantageous positions against Australia and Bangladesh as well,” he noted.

Reflecting on his 205-run opening partnership with Babar Azam in the Cape Town Test, Masood lamented the lack of middle-order resilience, which could have allowed Pakistan to set a formidable target for South Africa.

Shan emphasized the importance of moving forward with a fresh strategy, particularly leveraging spinners on home soil against the West Indies. He highlighted the team’s reliance on spin during their victory over England in Multan, stating, “We aim to carry forward the winning momentum from the England series.”

The 35-year-old, with an impressive record of 2,300 runs and six centuries in 40 Tests, expressed confidence in a 2-0 victory over the West Indies.

New Spin Coach Joins National Team

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former Test spinner Abdur Rehman as the spin bowling coach for the national men’s team, further strengthening their preparations for the series.
