Cave Creek organization utilizes donkeys as therapy animals.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — While therapy animals like dogs are often in the spotlight, have you considered donkeys? One organization in the Valley is utilizing these charming animals to assist individuals with various disabilities, and it’s called Something Good!

Located in Cave Creek, “The Donkeys of the Heart” provides therapeutic and adaptive riding experiences. The organization supports children, teens, and adults facing cognitive, mental, and behavioral challenges, as well as at-risk community and military members.

According to the staff, adaptive riding delivers physical, psychological, and educational benefits to participants. Riders have reported enhancements in balance and strength, increased self-confidence, and improved listening skills and focus.

Donkeys of the Heart operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is closed on weekends.
