During a diplomatic visit to Pakistan’s Sindh province, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced the provision of free visas for Sukkur district council members and pledged educational support, including scholarships for local students.
UAE Consul General Dr. Bakheet Ateeq Al-Rumaithi revealed several initiatives, such as awarding scholarships to 10 students from the Sukkur district to pursue higher education in the UAE. Additionally, plans were unveiled to build a women’s and children’s hospital in the region.
These commitments were formalized through memorandums of understanding (MOUs) signed by Al-Rumaithi and Sukkur District Council Chairman Syed Kumail Haider Shah. The agreements also include plans to construct the Sukkur Tower Monument.
Al-Rumaithi highlighted the UAE’s robust visa processing system, noting that Karachi houses Asia’s largest UAE visa center. He encouraged Pakistani citizens to utilize the visa center directly, bypassing travel agencies.
The Consul General also acknowledged the significant presence of two million Pakistani expatriates in the UAE, pointing to the success stories of Pakistani immigrants, such as a woman holding a senior position in the UAE’s healthcare sector.
“Our relations are built on mutual love and respect,” Al-Rumaithi expressed, noting the gesture of illuminating Sukkur for the UAE’s National Day celebrations.
This diplomatic move serves to strengthen bilateral ties between the UAE and Pakistan, with a focus on expanding educational and healthcare opportunities in Sukkur.
