SC removes case on civilians’ trial in military courts from schedule

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has removed the case concerning the trial of civilians in military courts from its agenda.

In an official notice issued on Sunday, the court announced that the case, initially scheduled for hearings on January 20 and 21, has been delisted.

This decision came after the seven-member constitutional bench, led by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, was absent.

Previously, the Supreme Court’s constitutional bench had instructed the Ministry of Defense to provide detailed information on the military trials of civilians conducted so far.

The bench, which included Justices Jamal Mandokhel, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Masrat Hilali, Naeem Akhtar Afghan, and Shahid Bilal Hassan, was set to address the ongoing legal debate over military courts’ authority in civilian trials.
