KARACHI: The case of two missing children from Karachi, Aliyan and Ali Raza, who have been unaccounted for since January 15, took a new turn on Wednesday.
CCTV Footage and New Findings
CCTV footage initially showed a man and woman on a motorcycle with two children, raising concerns about the missing kids. However, it has now been clarified that the children on the motorcycle were the couple’s own children, not the missing ones.
Police revealed that the parents of Aliyan and Ali Raza were unable to identify the children in the footage. Efforts are now focused on tracing the registration number of the motorcycle involved.
Ongoing Search Operations
A joint operation led by the Garden police and rescue teams is in progress to locate the missing children. Teams are searching nullahs, water tanks, and other possible locations.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arif Aziz confirmed that the search is underway in various Lyari areas, including the Lyari River and nearby neighborhoods, with technical assistance being provided to support the operation.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South Asad Raza stated that over 50 CCTV footages have been collected from surrounding areas, and the police have been actively working on the case since it was reported. Footage is being analyzed, and eyewitnesses are being interviewed.
Parents’ Concerns and Police Investigation
Despite the police’s efforts, the parents of the missing children expressed frustration over the lack of progress in finding their kids. They confirmed they had not received any ransom demands and do not have any specific suspects in mind.
In an interview with ARY News, the father of Aliyan mentioned that the man on the motorcycle in the CCTV footage appeared to be a stranger to the area.
DIG South Asad Raza has set up a five-member committee to investigate the case, and at least three suspects have been arrested so far.
The Disappearance
Five-year-old Aliyan and six-year-old Ali Raza went missing while playing outside their homes in Karachi’s Garden neighborhood six days ago. Despite continuous police efforts, their whereabouts remain unknown.
On January 15, Aliyan’s mother, Zainab, noticed her son was missing when she returned home from work. After inquiring, she found out from a neighbor that Aliyan’s playmate, Ali, had also disappeared.
CCTV footage from the area showed a man and woman on a motorcycle with two children who appeared semi-conscious.
