ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Ali Zafar has stated that the party has submitted written demands to the government, with a seven-day deadline for a response. If the government fails to address these demands, no negotiation meetings will take place.
During a press conference in the federal capital, Ali Zafar highlighted that the National Crime Agency (NCA) had launched an investigation into the Al-Qadir Trust case based on suspicion. However, the NCA later lifted the freeze on the funds, noting that under UK law, stolen money cannot be unfrozen.
He pointed out that both the Supreme Court of Pakistan and UK courts had affirmed that the funds were not stolen. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has stated that PTI’s former cabinet instructed the unfreezing of the money.
Ali Zafar also revealed that the investigating officer confirmed no case could be made against the property tycoon and his son involved in the matter.
He further noted that the UK court was informed that there were no suspicions surrounding the money, emphasizing that the case is based on the assumption that the funds were stolen. The money was deposited into the Supreme Court’s account before the cabinet’s decision, although the NCA had initially frozen the funds in 2018.
