Customs officials have seized 78 high-value mobile phones, including 54 iPhones, worth millions of rupees, from the crew of Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) Dubai-Multan flight.
The confiscated iPhone 16 Pro devices were found in the possession of five crew members, including senior steward Faisal Pervaiz, air hostesses Nishat and Sadaf, and flight stewards Imran and Khalid Khan. Acting on a tip-off, Customs authorities intercepted the crew and initially discovered 24 iPhones with the two air hostesses.
Further investigations led to the identification of additional devices. The male crew members were called back from their hotel, resulting in the recovery of 54 more phones.
While the seized phones, valued in millions, have been confiscated, the statements of the individuals involved in the smuggling attempt have been recorded. They were permitted to return home following the inquiry.
