At least one person lost their life, and seven others were injured in an explosion targeting a passenger bus traveling from Khuzdar to Rawalpindi on Sunday, according to officials.
The incident occurred on the M-8 Motorway when the bus passed near a roadside vehicle laden with explosives, as reported by Express News.
Among the 13 passengers onboard, eight sustained injuries, with one succumbing to their wounds. The deceased has been shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), while the injured are undergoing treatment at the Trauma Centre in Khuzdar.
Levies officials confirmed that the explosives were planted in a stationary vehicle, deliberately targeting the passenger bus. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Authorities have launched an investigation and are expected to enhance security measures in the aftermath of the incident.
The attack comes amid escalating violence in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where militant activities have surged in recent months.
Earlier this month, a blast in Turbat claimed four lives and injured 32 people, with the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) taking responsibility for the attack.
The CRSS Annual Security Report 2024 revealed that last year marked one of Pakistan’s deadliest periods, with over 2,500 violence-related deaths. Among them, Balochistan reported 782 fatalities, making it one of the most affected regions.
