ISLAMABAD – On Monday, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) rejected the acquittal petition filed by PTI chairman Imran Khan in the GHQ attack case.
Imran Khan had submitted a petition for acquittal in the case, which was heard by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah in Rawalpindi.
The prosecutor opposed the petition, arguing that the trial was still ongoing and that testimonies from 12 witnesses had already been recorded. He emphasized that it was premature to consider the acquittal request at this point and asked for more evidence to be presented by the prosecution.
Additionally, the prosecutor referenced the rejection of Sheikh Rashid’s acquittal plea by the ATC, which was upheld by the High Court.
In the end, the judge denied Imran Khan’s request for acquittal.
