KARACHI: Onya Andrew, a woman from the United States, recently arrived in Karachi, driven by her love for a 19-year-old Pakistani teenager. She managed to find his residence in the Garden area of the city, where she has been waiting in the parking lot of the building since morning, refusing to leave.
Onya Andrew had traveled to Pakistan, lured by promises of marriage from the teenager. Speaking to the media, she confirmed that her sole purpose in coming to Pakistan was to marry him, and she was determined to stay.
In response, a two-member team from the US Consulate in Karachi visited the airport to meet with both airport authorities and Onya, in an attempt to convince her to return to the US.
Earlier this week, Onya had refused to leave Pakistan when she was brought to Jinnah International Airport. Sources at the airport reported that she caused a scene, initially refusing to pass through immigration, and later declining to board her flight. She made several excuses to delay her departure.
Airport security and police took Onya into protective custody and escorted her to the departure lounge. However, she continued to resist boarding her flight, causing a 36-minute delay. Due to security regulations, passengers cannot be forced onto a flight.
Reports indicate that Onya had fallen in love with Nadal Meman, a 19-year-old from Karachi’s Garden area, through social media. Despite being a mother of two, Onya traveled to Karachi on October 11. While Nadal initially agreed to marry her, his family opposed the union. After months in Karachi, Onya’s return ticket expired.
After her visa expired, Onya was handed over to the airport police by the ASF as she attempted to leave the country.
