QUETTA: A dual American-Pakistani national and TikTok user was tragically shot and killed in what appears to be an honor killing in Quetta. The incident took place in the Balochi Street area, where 15-year-old Hira lost her life, according to police reports.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Hira’s father, Anwarul-Haq, and her maternal uncle, Tayyab Ali, were responsible for her death. Hira’s father had become furious over her social media activity, particularly her TikTok videos. Despite his attempts to stop her from making the videos, Hira refused to comply.
Anwarul-Haq had moved to the US years ago with his wife and children but returned to Pakistan with Hira on January 15. His wife and two other daughters stayed in the US. Authorities have confirmed that the murder was premeditated, with Anwarul-Haq masterminding the plan and enlisting his brother-in-law to carry out the killing.
A murder case has been filed, and both suspects have been arrested and confessed to the crime. The case has now been transferred to the Serious Crime Investigation Wing for further investigation.
In other news, TikTok remained unavailable on Apple and Google app stores in the US as President Trump delayed enforcing a ban on the app, raising doubts about its future. Despite this, TikTok resumed service, though it has not yet returned to the app stores due to legal requirements.
