According to police, the Kurram Assistant Commissioner was in the area with law enforcement to enforce a ceasefire when unidentified attackers opened fire, injuring him and three police officers. The wounded were immediately transported to the hospital.
Meanwhile, tribal elders have convened at the Commissioner House for a grand jirga to address tensions and ensure the implementation of a peace agreement in Kurram.
The jirga is being attended by Adviser on Information Barrister Saif, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, the Inspector General of Police, representatives from both sects, and key jirga members. Discussions are focused on restoring lasting peace, ensuring safe travel, and enforcing law and order, including the surrender of illegal weapons.
Also present at the meeting are GOC Kohat Major General Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Kohat Division Commissioner Syed Moatasim Billah Shah, RPO Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat, and other senior military and district officials.
