Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has commenced preparations to resume flights to the UK.
According to sources, the UK’s Department for Transport (DFT) is expected to complete an audit of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), which will pave the way for the revival of flight operations from Pakistan to the UK.
Following positive signals, PIA is now making preparations to restore its UK flight services. Efforts are underway to secure slots at Heathrow Airport, with plans to resume operations from Terminal 4. PIA also aims to launch direct flights to Manchester and London by mid-March.
The airline plans to deploy its Boeing 777 aircraft for these services and is working on plans for additional flights to various European destinations.
In January, after a break of four-and-a-half years, a PIA flight landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, marking the resumption of operations in European countries.
The flight’s passengers, PIA officials, and crew were warmly welcomed at the airport by Charge d’Affairs Ms. Huzefa Khanum, along with members of the Pakistani diaspora.
Ms. Khanum expressed that the resumption of these flights is a significant gift for overseas Pakistanis and will help strengthen relations between Pakistan, France, and the European Union by promoting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
