LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday instructed the Lahore Deputy Commissioner to decide on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) request to hold a power show at Minar-e-Pakistan on February 8 by today.
Justice Farooq Haider presided over the hearing on the petition filed by PTI Punjab Chief Organiser Aaliya Hamza.
Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman and Lahore Deputy Commissioner Syed Moosa Raza appeared before the court. The deputy commissioner submitted a report regarding PTI’s planned public rally on February 8.
In his report, the DC mentioned that a cricket match is already scheduled in Lahore on February 8, and the ongoing Horse and Cattle Show is also taking place.
He informed the court that meetings were being held to decide on granting PTI permission for its gathering.
Justice Haider questioned when the application was received, to which the DC responded that PTI submitted the request on January 29.
The court further inquired how the party would complete its preparations in just one day if permission was granted.
Following the arguments, the LHC directed the deputy commissioner to make a decision on PTI’s plea by 5 PM today.
