A major development has surfaced in the case of alleged police brutality that resulted in the death of a young man, Waqas, at Preedy Police Station.
According to reports, nine police officials, including the Station House Officer (SHO), have been suspended following the incident.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South took decisive action, suspending the SHO, SIO, and other officers involved.
The suspended personnel include SHO Preedy Parvez Solangi, SIO Hanif Sial, Investigation Officer ASI Shahid Nazir, and Head Constable Zeeshan Haider. All of them have been transferred to the Suspended Company at Garden Headquarters until further notice.

Earlier, Waqas’ family and supporters gathered outside the police station with his body, demanding justice. Protesters blocked M.A Jinnah Road, leading to severe traffic congestion in Saddar, while demonstrators set a traffic police checkpoint on fire in the Mobile Market area.
Sindh Interior Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar took notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry. He has requested a report from SSP South and directed authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding Waqas’ death in police custody. The minister assured that legal action would be taken against any officer found responsible.
In a separate incident, a missing Karachi trader found murdered
Meanwhile, in another case, a Karachi trader who had been missing since January 29 was found dead in the Do Darya area on Sunday.
The body of Asif Kamal, a trader from Star Mobile Market in Saddar, was discovered with signs of brutal murder, according to police reports.
Asif had gone missing after leaving his residence in Landhi for work. Following an extensive search, his family filed a missing person’s report, leading to a kidnapping case being registered at the Landhi police station on February 1.
