After Huawei, HONOR has announced the integration of its in-house AI assistant, YOYO, with DeepSeek’s R1 model. This update, currently exclusive to select HONOR smartphones in China, aims to enhance reasoning capabilities and provide a more personalized user experience.
HONOR reports that YOYO serves over 130 million active monthly users. With the DeepSeek-R1 integration, the AI assistant will benefit from improved logical thinking and contextual awareness, two of the model’s key strengths.
It remains uncertain whether HONOR plans to expand this service beyond China. However, this marks DeepSeek’s first collaboration with a smartphone brand, hinting at potential future partnerships in the industry.
The DeepSeek-R1 interface introduces itself with the message:
“I am an intelligent agent based on the open-source DeepSeek-R1, dedicated to offering users an immersive deep-thinking experience, helping them explore knowledge, solve problems, and spark creativity.”
