ISLAMABAD: Renowned religious preacher Dr. Zakir Naik arrived in Pakistan on Monday for a month-long visit, during which he will deliver lectures in major cities, including Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore.
This marks Naik’s first trip to Pakistan in three decades, with his last visit occurring in 1992, when he met with religious scholar Dr. Israr Ahmed in Lahore before returning to India.
Although originally from India, Naik currently resides in Malaysia due to legal issues in his home country, which has sought his extradition in multiple cases.
Upon his arrival at Islamabad International Airport, Naik was welcomed by officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and PM’s aide Rana Mashhood.
During his stay in Pakistan, Dr. Naik is scheduled to address public gatherings, beginning in Karachi on October 5, followed by talks in Lahore on October 12 and Islamabad on October 19.
In addition to public events, he is expected to meet with senior government officials and participate in various public engagements throughout his visit, which will last until October 28.
Sources from the religious affairs ministry indicated that Dr. Naik was visiting Pakistan at the government’s invitation and would be provided with comprehensive security during his stay.
